Pet Safe Housing
Keeping Pets and Families Together
At the Little Guild, we know pets are family—and during times of crisis, making sure they are safe and cared for is more important than ever.
Our Pet Safe Housing Program provides a safety net for community members in need. Whether someone is experiencing domestic violence, facing a medical emergency, or displaced due to fire, natural disaster, or another crisis, we offer temporary shelter and veterinary care for their pets so families don’t have to make the heartbreaking choice of giving them up.
For a victim of domestic violence, having a safe place for their pet can mean the difference between staying in danger and finding a path to safety. By caring for their animals until they are able to reunite, we help survivors take steps toward a secure future—without losing the bond that gives them strength and comfort.
We are proud to partner with Project Sage, a Torrington-based organization providing confidential support, advocacy, and emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence. Together, we ensure that both people and their beloved pets have a safe place to turn when crisis strikes.
Space in the program is limited and depends on the number of animals in our shelter at any given time.
