We held our official groundbreaking at our permanent site on May 11, and an exuberant group of supporters came to help, including Diane Libby of the Robert R. Rosenheim Foundation and Cornwall’s First Selectmen Gordon Ridgway. Work is underway and the old building will soon be razed. The press came as well (see below), and of course lots of photos were taken!

Saying Goodbye to the Old, Making Way for the New

This month, we watched as the old Little Guild building was taken down—an emotional but exciting moment. For decades, the space served as a safe haven for countless animals and the community that loved them. Now, as we clear the way, we look ahead with gratitude and anticipation. The demolition makes room for our new, modern facility that will allow us to better care for the animals who need us most and welcome supporters for years to come.

With the old building now gone, the site is clear and prepared for the next stage of our journey. It’s incredible to see the space open up, knowing it will soon be transformed into a new home for the Little Guild. Every step forward brings us closer to a facility designed to give animals the best possible care and to welcome our community with open doors.

Exciting progress is happening at the Little Guild’s new home! The structure is now clearly taking shape, and our staff recently had the chance to tour the building. Walking through the future space where we’ll welcome animals and the community was an inspiring moment for everyone. We can’t wait to share more updates as the project moves forward along this journey to create a brighter future for pets in need.

A new facility will improve the environment for our animals, increase efficiency, and allow for expanded community outreach and support. With modern spaces to provide tranquil spaces and quarantine options and an expanded space to house training and community programming, we can greatly increase our impact on the community.
The Mission of The Little Guild
Strengthening the loving bonds between people and pets in our communities.
The Little Guild is dedicated to rescuing and nurturing homeless dogs and cats for adoption into safe and caring homes. To improve well-being, we also provide educational programs and training, as well as medical, food and social services support to pet owners in need.
