PROGRAMS

Pet ownership is a multifaceted journey, and it is our goal to support not JUST the animals in our care and the people who adopt from us, but to also support the animal-loving community as a whole.

Details about our various programs  are available below.

The Pet Pantry

The Pet Pantry offers pet food and supplies to families in need, at no cost, through donations from individuals, companies and other organizations.  Please stop by our front desk during regular business hours and someone can help you.

The Little Guild partners the Pet Pantry Program with several local food banks through the generosity of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation:  Friendly Hands Food Bank in Torrington, the Town Of Winchester's Social Services, Fishes and Loaves Pantry in Canaan, the Corner Pantry in Lakeville and the Town of Litchfield's Social Services through the Annex Co-op Food Pantry.

Animal Welfare Education

The Little Guild offers animal welfare education visits to schools and civic groups, where our Animal Care Specialists and Canine Behaviorist, Alex Echevarria, teaches about how we rescue, heal and love homeless cats and dogs and place them in loving homes in our community.

Support for Women in Crisis

We have developed impactful programs with the Susan B. Anthony Project and Project SAGE and  to help women in need by caring for their animals while they care for themselves.  Pets are family too and we want to make the decision to get help an easier one for their owners.

The programs are administered by SBAP and Project Sage so please contact them directly with any inquiries.

No Cost Vaccination Clinic

The Little Guild No Cost Vaccination Clinic is an annual event where we provide free vaccinations and examinations to dogs in our area whose owners are not able to afford essential care for their pets. We also raise money from local supporters to provide spays and neuters.
