We have received numerous requests to foster our animals while the COVID-19 virus has forced the majority of us to stay home. And while we are so fortunate to have such a supportive network, we are not actively looking to place our animals into foster homes at this time. Our immediate goal is to find our animals the forever homes they deserve through adoption, not fostering. The Little Guild is a limited intake shelter which means we do not euthanize for space. A dog or cat in our care can stay with us for as long as it takes until they find the forever home they deserve.
When we send animals home with a foster, we are not in any way separate from the animal nor the foster parent. Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible for both the animals out in the community through our foster program, as well as those who are opening their hearts and homes.
Though they may be physically "apart" from us, they are in fact very much always "a PART" of us!!
ABOUT THE FOSTER PROGRAM
With the help of an amazing group of foster caregivers our foster program gives animals who are not yet ready for adoption a chance to live and be loved in foster homes. This allows the shelter to take in more cats and dogs and reduces the amount of time an animal stays in our on site facilities. Fostering also provides us with invaluable information from the foster family to help prepare animals for adoption. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience you'll never forget, and improves the lives of shelter animals in a very direct way.

The outline of the steps to our foster process is:
Fill out Foster Application Online
Online application is processed and if approved the Foster Coordinator will contact you to schedule an orientation. Please note that this step involves veterinary, personal, and landlord references if applicable. If you own your own home you will be required to bring proof of home ownership to the orientation. It helps to expedite the process if you let these people know that we will be contacting them and give permission for them to speak with us.
At the conclusion of the orientation the Foster Coordinator will schedule a home visit to see your home, meet any current animals, and meet all members of the household.
After the home visit you will be invited back to our location to meet any potential animal(s) that may be a match for your home.
The last step is delivery of your foster to your home! SUCCESS
